Kitchen Remodel

We are in the middle of redoing our kitchen. I can't find my camera but I will post before and after pics. We are sanding down our "new"(used) cabinets in the garage every chance we get. After they are sanded we prime, paint, glaze and seal them. Then we get to take out the existing cabinets, find flooring to match and add it, then install the new ones. We are going to try to spray paint our 70s-looking beige appliances black to match the fridge and then add the backsplash. We have a lot of work behind and ahead of us, but it is going to be so nice when done.

Last week was a nightmare. We had some workers here to raise our 7' ceiling and the kitchen was a mess. They took 2 days longer than anticipated, pushing back cleanup for our pending guests. In the interim we had a makeshift kitchen in our basement, complete with microwave, Scott's college fridge, folding chairs and card table, and our griddle. We did dishes in the bathroom. I was also really sick with a bad head cold, couldn't breathe, couldn't sleep and couldn't speak for a few days. I am so glad that week is over!

We removed the upper cabinets for the ceiling work so our counters and hall closet are housing spices, gadgets, and all things kitchen. Our bookshelf has dishes, cups, snacks for school lunches and baking paraphernalia on it. We need to paint the new vaulted ceiling (which looks great and so different!) and the walls leading up to it. I can almost visualize how great it will be with the fridge back where the fridge belongs (right now it is next to the kitchen table) and lots of cabinet and pantry space.

We are really enjoying having Peggy, Bill, Bill's mom and niece here visiting. Sunday was so nice and relaxed. We have been enjoying good food, fun games and just being together. Today we are headed to the planetarium and Family History Museum in downtown SLC. Bailey and Myles are so excited to get out of school an hour early for that. Tomorrow we will head to the new Scheels to ride the ferris wheel. Tomorrow night the adults are going to the Salt Lake Temple. Friday we will tour Temple Square, City Creek and the Conference Center. They leave early Saturday morning. What a wonderful week. I am so grateful that they could come visit and look forward to our trip to Arizona for Christmas.

I can't wait to see pictures of your kitchen! If anyone knows what a pain it is to do a kitchen remodel, I do! Hope it's done soon:) Hope you have fun with mom & bill!

Rough Day

Yesterday was a really rough day. Both of my boys get bronchiolitis when they get any kind of congestion; basically they wheeze and we use breathing treatments every four hours for a week until they get better. Their breathing isn't too labored, but they don't sound very good. Landon has been wheezing since Sunday so I took him in to the Dr. yesterday. The nurse practitioner checked his oxygen level and it was 99% so he was getting oxygen despite the wheezing. I assumed she would tell me to continue the breathing treatments at home every four hours for the next week. This is the same procedure with each boy every time either one gets a cold and it goes straight to his lungs. I was very surprised when she told me I needed to take Landon to the E.R. immediately. I asked a lot of questions, mainly, “Why am I taking him to the E.R.? Is it really that serious? What am I supposed to say when they ask why I am there? New Family Pics

I don't have much to report. We had family pictures a few weeks ago. We met a woman who needed computer repair so we were able to trade the full cost of her skills with Scott's mad computer skills. What a blessing! I love how they turned out. I am so blessed to have such a great family. We are all doing well. Here is a brief update: *Scott is trying to survive the load at work. He has worked three unplanned overnighters in the last six weeks. He would work 18 hours after sleeping only 3, then head back to work the next morning. He is also swamped with his calling and being a wonderful husband and father. I am so grateful he is a hard worker with great integrity. *Bailey is doing well at school. We just love her teacher this year. She is doing great at math and enjoying piano. She is growing up so quickly it hurts sometimes. *Myles is having a hard time at school. Last week he spit at an aide and called her, "Stupid head!" If you know Myles, this is not like him at all
