California Redlands Temple

We had such a great trip to California this past week. We stayed at this amazing Hilton resort in Carlsbad- three nights only cost $50 and our time for a short timeshare presentation. They gave us two free tickets to Sea World, also. We were close to the beach, which only Bailey and Myles braved, and had a great time at the kids' water park and hot tub at the resort. The weather was foggy and cool; the sun came out for a few hours each day.
One of the days we spent at Sea World and had a great time there. The kids got to pet the dophins and we loved the killer whale show. The dolphin show was more human Cirque de soleil than dolphin - very weird. The kids rode the three kid rides over and over. The park was empty and the kids were worn out after walking all day.
The next day we drove up to Santa Clarita (a beautiful little town an hour north of LA) and stayed two nights there. We met up with one of my roommates from BYU and her family. We haven't seen them in 7 years so it was nice to catch up.
The next day we went to Six Flags Magic Mountain. We had so much fun there. The kids never wanted to leave the kiddie ride area, which was fine with us. Scott and I took turns on the real roller coasters. I forgot how much I LOVE roller coasters. Someday Scott and I need to go back without the kids. All of us were worn out after another day of walking, but the park was pretty empty. The kids got to go trick-or-treating there, too; that saved us some money on snacks for the ride home the next day.
During our week we went to see the San Diego, Los Angeles and Redlands Temples. We visited the Mormon Battalion Museum in Old Towne San Diego. We also visited the L.A. Temple Visitors' Center. The Church has done some incredible things and it was great to learn more about the early pioneers. I'm sad the trip is over, but we're hoping the memories will last forever.

I'm so glad your trip was so fun! I wish we could have come with you all! There's nothing like roller coasters! There's nothing like watching your kids at amusement parks, either! The amazement in their eyes is such a delight! Love you all!
