This past week has been the pits! I had the stomach flu last weekend and it took me a few days to get over that. Starting Monday Landon decided to stop sleeping well and began waking up every couple of hours all night long. He wasn't hungry, just forgot how to sleep and wanted Mom to hold him. Well, I love my kids and don't mind holding them during the day, but I need my sleep! I need more than a three hour stretch at a time to be a nice mommy. We began letting Landon cry it out. It has been horrible. The first two nights of that he would cry for at least 1/2 hour and then do it again two hours later. Then he began sleeping well until 2am and then waking up every two hours after that. I try so hard to be asleep by 10 but even then I only get four full hours. After that I have a very hard time going back to sleep. Next thing I know, it's time to get up and get Bailey to school.
We got Myles a toddler bed; my friend was selling hers and we got the bed, mattress and mattress pad for only $20. Thanks, Valerie! Myles does well at night, but has stopped napping now that he discovered his newfound freedom. I take out all toys and books but he still finds something to play with. One time he was examining his humidifier for entertainment. He never leaves his room, but he'll knock on the door, or yell or kick his closet doors. I am not giving in, though. He is a bear without sleep and once the novelty wears off he will nap again. (I hope and pray, at least!) He's been going to bed before 7 because I can't stand him anymore. I miss my happy, easy-going little buddy. I hope we find him again soon.
However, last night we had a breakthrough with Landon! He went to bed at 7pm and Scott and I had our first real date without any kids. It was fabulous. We had DQ blizzards and went window shopping. We spent about $2200 in our heads; I love that. Anyway, Landon slept until 4am! He ate really well and then went right back to sleep until 7. Bless this child. I really do love my kids so much more when they sleep. I admit, my love is conditional at times.

The pics of the kids are absolutely adorable, BTW...it sure helps when they smile so cute... :-)

Pink Eye!!!!

I woke up to the lovely sound of my screaming newborn at 1 am this morning and my right eye was burning. Turns out I have pink eye; I have never had it before and neither has Scott or the kids. I cannot believe how painful it is! I remember my greenie, Hermana Pocock had it in Venezuela. The revered cure-all down there is the lemon. Everywhere we went the people would tell her to squeeze a little lemon juice into her eye. Can you imagine how painful that would be? Not to mention what it might do to her eyesight. All I can say is thank goodness for medicated eye drops. It temporarily relieves the pain and I can't wait to be cured from this. 24 hours cannot pass soon enough! Yesterday our lesson was on the Second Coming. Bailey often asks me about when the Savior will come and what it will be like. I cannot wait to see the Savior and see what life will be like then. My First Marathon

The famous North Shore Waikiki Sunset Gorgeous Day at the Beach in Waikiki Many people have asked about the marathon and I cannot do it justice with just a summary. If you want to hear, "It was rough but went well" then feel free to skip the long narration that follows. Hawaii was amazing. I needed the break and truly appreciate the opportunity. I have said in previous posts that I know the Lord guided me to this path and despite the many challenges, I am grateful. The week before the marathon I did an 8 mile run which ended badly with excruciating pain in my left knee down to my ankle and foot. I limped home very worried and decided not to run until the marathon. I went to the chiropractor Wednesday night and she told me I needed to take three weeks off for my leg to recover. I reminded her the marathon was in 4 days. Her face went dead pan and simply said, "Do what you can then." I wanted to advise her to never become a motivational speaker but let it go. The nigh...

New Family Pics

I don't have much to report. We had family pictures a few weeks ago. We met a woman who needed computer repair so we were able to trade the full cost of her skills with Scott's mad computer skills. What a blessing! I love how they turned out. I am so blessed to have such a great family. We are all doing well. Here is a brief update: *Scott is trying to survive the load at work. He has worked three unplanned overnighters in the last six weeks. He would work 18 hours after sleeping only 3, then head back to work the next morning. He is also swamped with his calling and being a wonderful husband and father. I am so grateful he is a hard worker with great integrity. *Bailey is doing well at school. We just love her teacher this year. She is doing great at math and enjoying piano. She is growing up so quickly it hurts sometimes. *Myles is having a hard time at school.
